Doers Of The Word

When words become cheap only action is golden. VaticanII proclaimed a great programme of renewal for the Church and its mission to the world. The time has come “to be doers of the word, and not merely hearers” (James 1:22). The Council must be put into action and made real for the world. Morality is at the heart of this project because it focuses on humanity’s search for the living God. It is the way of right reason for good living. The present volume sketches the basics of moral theology: the meaning of life and of action, the centrality of the person, sources in Scripture and history, the power to transform character and culture, the confrontation with “the mystery of evil”, and the law of the Gospel fulfilled in grace. Christ is the one who has opened humanity’s moral path to the Father. Doers of the Word is an explanation of Christian morality as this path of salvation.
